The Nailfolds Project

Visible Pain 2019  Charcoal on Paper

Working with a scientist and researcher of Scleroderma and Reynauds Syndrome has uncovered interesting similarities in our practice and fed my studio practice last semester. Looking closely at the magnified flow of blood to the very tip of the fingers presented some beautiful and interesting shapes. A big factor in this condition is the unseen symptoms of pain which now forms the driving force for this collaboration. Artists work with patients  and  Researchers from Salford Royal Hospital and The University of Manchester to express these symptoms suffered by almost a third of the population as the project extends to arthritis and other conditions. The art work produced will form an exhibition and serve to inform and improve communication between the groups and the public. Work in Progress.
